Froth Dogs
Album Art
The Client
Combining punk, pub rock, warm beers and cold pies, Froth Dogs are a band committed to their authenticity.
The Project
The Band approached me with an opportunity to illustrate and design their CD cover, with a view to use the assets across social media and on Spotify.
The Process
I began by discussing the overall concept with the band members, noting down appropriate reference material such as their favourite band covers, specific track names and a general theme for the album.
This discussion also included their audience and how they would receive and perceive the look and feel of both their music and the album artwork.
Bands like Frenzel Rhomb quickly became a focal point, as well as 90's gross-out cartoons. We agreed that the artwork should be engaging, unsettling and funny.
The Solution
After creating a basic analogue sketch I presented successive versions of the artwork for client approval in both hand-drawn illustrations and eventually transferred across to a digital medium for the final product.
A simple marketing campaign was suggested, revolving around the use of the front cover as content. This reduced the overall investment for the band and helped to promote the album itself.
The final outcome was supplied to the client in a PDF format ready for print production, along with an appropriate CD printing file for the bands logo and assets for Spotify and social media promotion.
